China is now Russia’s largest trading partner.
Trade with the European Union, China’s largest trading partner, declined by 3.7 per cent last year to $546.04 billion while trade with the US, China’s second-largest trading partner, grew by 8.5 per cent to $484.68 billion.
Trade between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) grew by 10.2 per cent to $400.09 billion.
Japan ranked only fifth in trade with China in 2012, ceding its fourth place to Hong Kong.
China-Japan trade fell 3.9 per cent to $329.45 billion.
The country’s foreign trade increased by 6.2 per cent in 2012 to $3.87 trillion, with exports growing by 7.9 per cent to $2.05 trillion and imports rising 4.3 per cent to $1.82 trillion.
