EU allies defy US to join China-led Asian Bank

Chinese Finance Minister Lou Jiwei speaks at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing, capital of China, Oct. 24, 2014 [Xinhua]

The new China-led Asian investment bank, a potential rival to institutions such as the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, has enlisted more US allies as members after Britain decided to join last week.

The membership of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is set to expand further, with three more European countries following Britain’s lead.

France, Germany and Italy have defied US instructions not to participate in the Bank, said UK daily, The Financial Times.

The decision of the three European countries, yet to be officially announced, came in the wake of Britain’s application last week to be a founding member of the $50 billion bank.

Meanwhile, Australian leaders have been lining up in the past few days to voice support for joining the AIIB, which marks a conspicuous U-turn from the cabinet’s previous stance.

“Our position all along has been that we are happy to be part of some thing which is a genuine multilateral institution such as the World Bank, such as the Asia Development Bank,” Prime Minister Tony Abbott said during an interview with Sky News over the weekend.

In addition, South Korea, Switzerland and Luxembourg are deliberating over the decision to participate in the infrastructure investment Bank.

In a last-ditch attempt to hinder its allies’ participation in the China-backed Bank, US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel said in Seoul on Tuesday that there must be “unmistakable evidence” about the standards of the Bank before members join in.

“Every government can make its own decision about whether the way to achieve that goal is by joining before the articles of agreement are clarified or by waiting to see what the evidence looks like as the bank starts to operate,” the US official was quoted by Reuters.

China, with $4 trillion in foreign exchange reserves, is pushing for the growth of its own multilateral bodies, including the AIIB, the BRICS Bank and a bank for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, but also seeking to strengthen its voice at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

As regards Japan, Chinese Finance Minister Lou Jiwei said earlier this month that the chance to be an AIIB founding member is available for all Asian countries including Japan by March 31, and the ball is in Japan’s court.

“They told us they are considering. Whether Japan will join, we do not know. It is Japan’s own decision,” Lou said.

Nearly 30 countries have confirmed their participation in the AIIB, which is aimed at helping finance infrastructure projects across Asia and expected to be operational within 2015.

In response to US concerns about the standards of the AIIB, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said last week that the AIIB’s operation and governance will be open, transparent, inclusive and responsible.

“It will draw experiences from other multilateral development banks and avoid their detours so as to be more cost-effective and efficient,” he told a press conference.

“The AIIB will complement existing multilateral development banks and support the infrastructure and economic development in Asia,” he added.

The Evil Empire is beginning to crack. It will crack more as the Russian-Chinese alliance unfolds its potentials and when European capitals understand that hegemonic Washington has put their existence at risk in order to try to prevent Russia’s rise. The crazed American and British neocon nazis, and their dupes among the populations, comprise the greatest human threat that the world has ever known. The sooner the Evil Empire collapses, the safer the world will be.”

Urban Dictionary Definition of a NEOCON:
“Neoconservative. Criminally insane spenders that believe in killing brown people for the new world order. Huge Orwellian government, unfathomable amounts of spending, bomb tens of thousands of people to death to rearrange the globe…”

It is unseemly for US government officials to even express an opinion on this new bank. It sounds like sour grapes.

But I would not be surprised to see some branch of the US government try to secretly sabotage the success of the bank.

Not be surprised to see the USA sabotage the success of the bank? How about stating the obvious here – the USA government will do ANYTHING in their power (legal or not) to prevent the success of both this bank and any other efforts to create a competing financial system to the “One Bank” system set up by “The West”. And for those that maintain that the World Bank and IMF are the ultimate string pullers when it comes to world financial affairs I would submit that the ultimate power over world finances flows out of the parasitical Bank of International Settlements (BIS). The BIS is an essentially evil enterprise set-up to serve the interests of the REAL money powers running the world – most of whom no-one can even name, and that’s the way those guys like it and will do almost anything to maintain their anonymity.

The U.S. is now essentially where the defunct Soviet Union was twenty five years ago, ever growing levels of corruption as the nation’s treasure is diverted exclusively to fund a growing authoritarian security state backed by a growing military empire. Defense related expenditures that go to enrich private corporate U.S. based military contractors. A large portion of the unbudgeted CIA funding is lavished on it’s many puppet states around the planet who continue to do it’s bidding primarily through ongoing disruption of the established government’s control brought about by random ethnic groups that challenge the existing order with U.S. supplied military weapons and funding. Those foreign states that refuse to be the U.S.’s puppet are also targeted for extinction using similar methods. The collapse of the Soviet Union did not provide any relief to Russian citizens as foreign capitalists wasted no time buying up everything in sight with the help of corrupt government officials as the country was turned into a virtual organized crime state with numerous murders in the streets while previously guaranteed state jobs and services were denied to large numbers of citizens who then faced starvation and worse. However, the West underestimated the spirit of the Russian People that arose in the middle nineties and went about replacing all the Capitalist Plutocrats with patriotic Russian leaders like Putin that have turned the tide as they, among other things, have now joined with other major world powers who have also tired of a single world economic power maintaining total control of the world’s economy for the past seventy years !

It is my opinion that the former Soviet Union has succeeded in usurping the American Federal Government from the people of the United States. This shadow government is now in the process of continuing their marxist communist ideological hedgemony as they attempt to now infiltrate, dismantle and reshape the State Governments of the United States of America to mimic the former Soviet Unions political structure. The old Soviet Union likewise was destroyed but by American ideals and the remnants of that former Marxist empire have now adopted many governing practicies and ideals that the founding fathers of the United States invented and used to construct the United States of America. It remains to be seen which State governments in America will submit to the usurption of State authority by a compromised Federal government as this is blatantly unconstitutional and can not proceed covertly. I predict there will be a time where Washington and the shadow government that controls it will be exposed and that revelation will unite those States where large populations of Constitutional conservatives live and populate their State governments. America will then either splinter or States will attempt to dismantle the compromised government in Washington to reform America once again according to the principals of its founding Constitution.

This will be seen by many in Asia, I’m sure, as a very welcome development. Along with the financial institutions already mentioned, this new bank will continue the trend into the foreseeable future of the expansion and consolidation of China’s financial sector. Asian countries, especially China’s immediate neighbours, should now find it easier to secure loans on more favourable terms than what western financial institutions like the IMF have hitherto been willing to give them and allow them to develop their infrastructure in ways that facilitates mutually advantageous commerce between themselves and the rest of the world.

If countries are allowed to set their own fiscal and economic priorities according to their own needs free of the interference that has all too typically characterised western lending practices, then perhaps we will begin to see the beginning of real social progress within the Asian-Pacific region.

Geoff, your analysis beats Paul Craig Roberts. He is correct about America but only goes as far as interpreting what the same international news cabal reports. Putin, and Russia has “absolutely no territorial ambitions at all”, like he said once interviewing with Michael Savage?

Roberts is correct on Ukraine and many other international issues. He was dead wrong, and I mean *dead* wrong, on Honduras and Chavez. The narrative is all twisted. Hondurans did not want a dictatorship so they arrested the dictator. For peace, they let him choose exile instead of the prison where even the other prisoners hated him. But the international criminal power cabal ordered him back.

So the USA pretended they were happy with all that. Not. Look at the history of the American Ambassador and the OAS Secy General.

Well, as I interpreted this new banking and financial system.
It is open for every nation if they wish to join, but there is of course a protocol every then member has to stick to.
Transparancy, accountability thus contrary to World Bank & c.s.

It is up then to all the member of good intentions to “throw out” these members which intention is to “sabotage” the whole philosophy and open actions of the AIIB.

There have been IMO yearslong thinking and talking about the setup of this.
Brasil, Russia, India, China and up till now the last member South-Africa are not stupid. We have to get rid of this old mantra that only the West have banking and financial wisdom.

In positive way: do not underestimate the Russian and China philosophy. IMO it is much better although it might be harder for us to understand first.

Finally peace prevails for all of us?

I hope this venture is successful. I also know that this Evil USG will go all out to kill off this bank b/c they can’t lose control of countries or the petrol dollar will be worthless. China needs to use extreme caution in seeing this venture grow and prosper while in the background the USG is working to destroy it. Walk softly and carry a BIG stick China.

Wow! Pretty savage and ruthless attacks towards America. One would think that America has done nothing at all in a positive fashion throughout history for the rest of the world. As an American, I’m not naive to the foolishness of our politicians, yet I still believe America stands for something and when asked it has been there for many a nation(s) when called upon. For all those on this thread who wish the worse on America, just remember that China is a repressive regime with A LOT of issues. And don’t tell me that America oppresses their citizens. Flaws exist and they have throughout history. It’s a revolving door of the same cyclical crap. However, America is still the land of opportunity. People all over the world come here in search of a better life, not China or Russia. Please!!! You can ask any foreigner that visits America and they will tell you that we have so much freedom. If you hate America, so be it. Go ahead and join China and Russia and all the other countries and create another basket case banking system. They all suck! But stop beating up on my country! We have done so much for the world and it’s never mentioned, only the bad stuff. And ironically, a lot of the hate comes from Americans who are bitter and on personal mission to discredit America. So in the future, when your country needs help or aid (and apparently you won’t) just dial up China and Russia and not America.

Oh sure! The US ‘has done so much’ for the world? Let us see: killed 3 million civilians in Vietnam, overthrew 19 democratically elected govts in Latin America..and counting, same barbarism in Africa, starved 500k Iraqi children to death in the 1990s and glosted about it as ‘worth it’, invaded Iraq on false WMD pretexts causing the deaths of over 1 million innocent Iraqis, instigated the chaos and wars in Egypt, Libya and Syria resulting in the deaths of over 300k people…and counting, funded the formation of the ISIS savages, sells Monsanto cancer causing terminator seeds by force to farmers in Africa, Asia and Latin America, illegally spies on everybody worldwide etc so what more ‘good’ do the goons in Nazington have in store? You should be ashamed of yourself daring to complain about people pointing out US genocidal criminality.

Blind faith in the past will not give you refuse in the present.

Geoff, America has practically been in perpetual war for over two hundred years now. All those wars are/were wars of aggression. America is not the Paradise you think it is. It is a ruthless and aggressive Empire, far more aggressive than China has ever been and will ever be. Chinese culture is totally different, they are not interested in “intervening” in other nations internal affairs. They are not as imperialistic.

America has done much for other countries of the world? Do you mean, as for an example, being responsible for all the infrastructure and home destruction, as well as more murder and pain inflicted torture of foreign citizens?
As for me, I was born in America 83 years ago, and I am not about leave my home country, the US government is not our country, it is a corporation, not a country, and they corrupted our original organic constitution when they became a corporation that has it’s authority, and is seated in Washington,DC

Geoff;.. We’re Americans here leaving our comments. I personally served in the US armed forces (originally by patriotic – if naive – choice) but my perspective, thanks to a military background has brought me to the place where I recognize, that my own country has perpetrated military invasions of more nations on earth, than any other nation on earth.

Yes, we have done good things; That is not to pretend that’s all we’ve done. When the first immigrants arrived to settle here, there were rats on board the ship. The immigrants grew in great numbers. Unfortunately the rats did too.

To ignore the dark side of what America has wrought in the world not only is irrational and irresponsible; but tends towards permission.

We need to stop making excuses for the bad things American does, as if the good things are some kind of excuse. In Ezekiel 18:24 the prophet warns exactly this: VIZ: “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity and does according to all the abominations that a wicked man does, will he live? All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his sin which he has committed; for them he will die.

Water is a human right that is well know to everybody.
But if you (as a government) start privatizing state’s obligations and services you may expect misery and poverty.

Hopefully that will change within your, mine and all other people’s life on this planet.

But at the moment I read in (alternative) news bulletins that your US is giving B52-loads of money out for war-games, especially in Europe. It looks like US is desperate and wants to destroy Europe including Russia before “its final fall”.

We have to prevent this insanity.

PCR (what happened to the original article?), sums up many truths quite tidily. The IMF, World Bank, BIS, and ADB are all defunct, debt-driven establishments which only seek to fund globalist (banker) war on the rest of humanity.

However, given China’s track record, and current stance on the the territory claimed in the southern Pacific, including the UNCLOS lines being disregarded in its hunger for more raw materials, I wouldn’t so quickly dismiss China as the knight in shining armor galloping in to save the world from american hegemony. The globalists would be more than happy to swap a gold based fractional reserve, debt-based system (with some ACTUAL) gold on hand, for what the Fed is providing now (just ask the Germans, Venezuelans, and Gadaffi how well the N.Y. Fed does at keeping track of its depositors’ gold).

The Chinese, without a doubt, gaining world reserve currency status – be it a basket of currencies or just brute force by gold holdings – would simply set itself down the path of imperialism, like the U.S., Britain, Spain, Portugal, Rome, and all of its predecessors.

The only legitimate wealth is debt-free wealth. Keynesian economics mixed with Fascism don’t equate to prosperity… just ask the Greeks (or anyone else at this point, for that matter.)

The only answer to the current debacle is to first, take away the ability of any government to borrow. Second, well… you see, once a government has no ability to borrow, it can’t live beyond its means, or finance wars of aggression or debase the currency. Take away the easy credit, and you fix everything…

True economy is only viable where business can be left alone to thrive and create jobs, innovation, and real wealth.

In conclusion, China replacing the U.S. as the guardian of financial transactions, presumably with russia on board, would probably be a boon in the short run. It would bankrupt the U.S., put a halt to the Empire, and force the west to realign its priorities. This process would free up a lot of human capital, reign in the wholesale slaughter of untold millions around the world, and perhaps even give americans a wake up call. However, in the long run, we shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss that fact that China, via state-controlled media, has just upgraded itself from ‘center of the Earth’ to … ‘center of the universe’… https://youtu.be/kbBKPqOh6DU

The only answer is to reject fractional reserve, fiat debt creation, forced at gunpoint from ANY criminal government. Don’t cheer until the chains of slavery are truly cast aside. Don’t give up until we are all free to conduct business, and our personal lives, without government intrusion.

It does my heart good to see countries, that the US government thought, was their allies, suddenly wake up to the Imperialist agenda of the lying corporation US government, that no longer represents the people of America and will throw anyone, or any country under the big bus, in order to achieve their agenda!
Just remember, all governments of the world, get their authority from the people, so, do what is right and stop making corrupt laws and mandates on the people, if you want some harmony from the Sovereign people of the world!

I would celebrate the collapse of the US empire, but countries like the UK, France and Germany are allies of the US, embedded into the NSA network. They may well constitute a fifth column in the AIIB, and serve to undermine it and undo the advantages of belonging to any payment or credit system that competes with the US-dominated IMF/WB. I wish the AIIB had held off taking them as members until they proved their political credibility. I’m not sure the US empire is at all displeased at the fact that their allies have “defied their orders”. Things are not always what they seem, as we should have realized by now.

The issue is really about the five permanent seats for the United Nations Security Council. China and Russia have supported India being elected a permanent member. If this occurred, without changes to the UN Charter, governed by the Rome Statute, this would mean the United States, Great Britain or France would lose its ‘permanent seat’. This is the foundation of a geopolitical crisis.

The U.S. strategy has been to invade countries overthrow governments, set up central banks and take natural resources. They could care less about the people. If the sheeple in America can not awaken or are to stupid to understand how this game has been played for many years then they deserved to go down with the ship. The vast majority of Americans are apathetic regarding the criminality of their government. There is no excuse nor will there be any mercy on them when the U.S. finally implodes. Just remember “We the People” let this happen through our own acquiescence to the government. The U.S. and the people within will be judged by the level of their indifference. If that is not sobering I truly don’t know what is.

The hand writing has been on the wall now for decades. Sadly though, only the awakened (the Daniel class) are able to decipher it. All this B. S. sensitivity to words like Neo-Con is so hypocritical when these very same people have no problems with racial epitaphs: like nip, greaser, nigger, wet back, kike, rag heads slant eye and the like. Hegel’s dialectic cycle has come full circle–the last will be first and the first will be last. It will soon be time for those who have been at the head of the line to move to the back of the bus and make way for the new Rosa Park entourage. It was just a matter of time until the so-called (mislabeled) minorities came together to get the devil off their backs. China alone has the largest population in the world–and they happen to be people of color. Just like the Native Americans used to say “Me no like Pale Face.”

Now there is classic trolling for you! NOTHING could be more calculated to discredit the whole point of view and its adherents than this vicious Jew bashing. It distracts – and is meant to – from the discussion of BRICS alternatives to corporate America’s financial hegemony and the American push towards (possibly nuclear) war on two fronts with China and Russia.

I had to restrain myself from making flat out vulgar replies to the above comment. Therefore in the Western so-called civilized fashion I will just say this: The discrediting comes not from the person that made the comment you replied to but came from and continue to come from the same people that have held the entire world of people of color hostage to a savagely brutal regime that values nothing but evil, money, exploiting, oppressing, and killing people of color under the pretense of population control.” As respects Nuclear war, the only nation to release such destructive force upon human beings are those you attempt to defend. The only difference is now, there are nations of color in possession of the same destructive power. The point is, only the nations who had no such destructive power are the victims of the bullying of the west. We live in a different world today; and though I wish nuclear weapons did not exist, the only way real negotiations to eliminate such weapons becomes a reality is because others have the same capacity to end human existence. The only way our generation can leave our posterity a better world is to rid the world of these weapons systems altogether and the geriatric group that keep us at war.
