Dozens injured in New York ferry collision

As many as 50 people were injured when a commuter ferry traveling from New Jersey collided with a dock at Pier 11 in lower Manhattan during Wednesday morning rush hour, police officials have said.

A police source said that two of the injured were in critical condition.

The ferry, owned by Seastreak, made a ‘hard landing’ when it hit the dock at about 8:45 am Eastern Standard Time.

NBC News reported that the ferry was carrying 343 people passengers, including five crew members.

Video footage from the ABC network revealed significant damage to the ferry.

Passengers who were aboard the ferry said it did not slow down as it normally does when approaching the docks.

The National Transportation Safety Board has started an investigation into the crash.
