Russian media portal Vesti.ru reported that the plane was carrying 40 tons of medical supplies from the Russian health ministry.
Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to send pharmaceuticals, first-aid kits and other medical aid to Syria after a phone conversation with the Syria president Bashar Assad last week.
Their talk, the first in two years, focused on Russian and US efforts to convene a peace conference bringing all parties in the conflict to the negotiating table to end the nearly three-year bloody civil war in Syria.
The Syrian National Council last week set a number of pre-conditions, including Syrian Army withdrawals from captured cities and towns, for attending the peace talks.

More than 100,000 have died since the start of the conflict, the United Nations says, and millions more are displaced.
Syrian President Bashar- Al Assad in September agreed to destroy his entire chemical weapons stockpile following a sarin gas attack that killed hundreds of people in Damascus on August 21.
Both the Syrian government and the rebel groups have denied the charges of perpetrating the attack.
