Arms exports in Russia reach a record $14 billion

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed today that the export of weapons and military equipment broke the record of $14 billion in 2012 and exceeded the planned $13.2 billion.

Last year Russia exported weapons worth $13.2 billion and came second after the U.S.

India is the leading purchaser of Russian arms.

The volume of Russian military sales is growing despite the loss of several important tenders. However, Russia has cultivated new weapons clients in Southeast Asia and Africa.

At the same time, as many experts say, Russia’s defence –industry is currently under revival.

The complex has launched a new generation of weapons and new military hardware in all areas.

As of today, Russia’s portfolio of export orders has reached nearly $40 billion, and experts see bright prospects for the future.

Vladimir Putin has called on the participants in the military – technical cooperation to work with a view into the future and to actively advance Russian products on the global markets.
