The survey conducted by polling firm Ibope Friday said the positive assessment of the Rousseff administration has risen four percentage points since last month.
Rousseff is in the third year of her four-year tenure. A majority of the respondents of the poll said “elimination of hunger and poverty” was a major achievement of the Rousseff administration while she still scored poorly in the area of “health improvement”.
56 per cent of those polled said they approved of the way Rousseff has governed the country.
The poll results show her as a clear favorite in the 2014 presidential elections. Seventy-five percent of respondents rated Rousseff’s government “good/great” or “average”.
The Brazilian President seems to have recovered a lot of the lost popularity during the recent social protests in the country.
As demonstrators took to the streets in June to protests against corruption, transports fares and poor public services, Rousseff had taken swift and critical decisions like pledging more investment in public transport, hiring doctors from abroad and setting aside oil royalties for education.
Rousseff had also called for a critical national referendum on political reforms in the country.
The Ibope poll of 2,002 people was conducted between November 23 and December 2 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
