Erdogan wants to link China’s One Belt, One Road trade initiative with Turkey’s “Middle Corridor” project [Xinhua]
Chinese media reported that Erdogan also agreed to align China’s One Belt, One Road Initiative, a large-scale development strategy proposed by the Chinese president, with Turkey’s “Middle Corridor” project which would see the two countries work together across a number of sectors like tourism and education.
Wang had met his Turkish counterpart on Sunday, and the two pledged push forward bilateral economic and anti-terror cooperation.
“Turkey highly values relations with China and looks forward to further expanding trade and investment cooperation, pushing forward cooperation in major projects, and strengthening bilateral cooperation in humanistic fields including education, culture tourism,” Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu said during a joint press conference with Wang after their meeting later that day.
Wang said that this visit was intended to cement the importance of bi-lateral ties between Ankara and Beijing, as well as to reaffirm the consensus reached between the presidents of both countries at an earlier meeting.
